A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence contradicting her allegations opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
